A case study on geophysical techniques for the marine submerged pipeline
Detection of man-made constructive blocks and remained objects at sea bottom, especially various pipe-lines, is an important and pressing problem in today sea engineering and harbor construction As our experience and practice from several years, geophysical techniques are the useful and cost-effective method With traditional geophysical detections, including high accuracy magnetic survey, shallow profile detection and side scan sonar, we carried out certain investigations of pipe-line made of different materials at sea bottom and obtained satisfactory results. The characteristics of the application principle, real-world examples and detecting effect analysis of geophysical survey techniques for the marine submerged pipeline are introduced in this paper. The advantages and disadvantages of various methods and application conditions are discussed. The actuality and development trend of the techniques are also summarized in the paper.
