The Application of ANP for Project Decisions Making
This paper summarises research into the theory and application of analytic network process (ANP) for project decisions making against multiple criteria in construction and development. It focuses on two main issues including the needs of assessment and the levels of ANP applications through projects lifecycle. In terms of the needs of assessment, an inclusive assessment framework is introduced to establish the linkages of clients objectives based on industrial guides given by the CIOB and the areas of project management based on industrial guides given by the PMI with regard to various purposes of decision making and the importance and relevance of intruding a generic set of assessment criteria. In terms of ANP applications, a progressive research route framework is introduced to summarise five levels of contemporary research and development related to ANP applications for the construction sector. Two generic criteria sets for various assessment purposes are then given with a brief discussion for further utilisation. It is expected that this paper could attract some interest from not only academics but also professionals in further research and collaboration in ANP applications under the established assessment framework with a selective use of the generic criteria.
