Research on Effects of Rejuvenating Agents on aged asphalt
The use of Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement helps to conserve natural resources. In this paper, the aging characterization of asphalt binders are studied, and the relationship between the rejuvenator content and the properties of residues from RTFOT for different lengths of time are researched. The results show that, with the increasing aging time, the penetration and ductility decrease while softening point increases; the high temperature performance of aged asphalt becomes better while the low temperature performance becomes poor; with optimum content of rejuvenating agent, the main properties of recycled asphalt improve; and with 6%-8% content of recycling agent, the main properties of recycled asphalt used in the pavement for 5 to 10 years can be recycled.
