Short-Term Deflections Calculation Based on Bond-Slip Effect
Short-term deflection is a component of deflection of reinforced concrete (RC) beam, which may be strongly influenced by bond-slip behaviour. Bond-slip effect may cause cracking development in the tensile zone of the cross-section, which may reduce the beneficial effects of tension stiffening. To analyse the short-term deflection on bond-slip effect, an equation of bond-slip effect and curvature are put forward based on the equilibrium of internal force and plane cross-section assumption. Comparing the calculation values by using the equation to the test results show that the equation provides considerable improvement in prediction of short-term deflection.
