The understanding and practice of sustainable construction: a survey of infrastructure construction practitioners in China

摘要：

Infrastructure construction projects have major influence on the attainment of sustainable development, thus construction sustainability needs to be considered. Although the actions to raise awareness on sustainable practices have been initiated by the Chinese government and nongovernment organizations, a widespread agreement on sustainable construction does not mean a widespread implementation. It was argued that although many construction practitioners agreed with sustainable principles, many have still not grasped their meaning and even fewer have taken into action. This study concentrates on examining the level of understanding and implementation of sustainable construction (SC) among infrastructure construction practitioners, by an empirical study in China.
