Approaches to Develop Order-based Agriculture in Western Under-developed Areas-Taking Gansu Province as an example
Order-based Agriculture, or similarly Contract Farming, is a new concept in primary industry, whereby fanners receive orders for production and farm in line with demand. It can well solve the conflict between the new requirement of large-scale production in agriculture and the old situation of decentralized operation by farmers. However, compared with other parts of China, Orderbased Agriculture in Western Under-developed Areas is still in its infancy, mainly due to the long-term absence of rural service system. Taking Gansu as a clear example, this paper firstly digs out the problems in developing Order-based Agriculture; then devotes much space on the construction of the rural service system and the effective functioning of Order-based Agriculture, in the hope of a new approach to develop Order-based Agriculture in Western Under-developed Areas.
