The Optimization of Distribution Centers Location for Goods and Materials for Supplying Water
The location selection of distribution centers (DCs) is one of the most important decision issues for logistics managers. Distribution centers location problem is concerned with how to select distribution centers from the potential set so that the total relevant cost is minimized. This paper mainly considers a planning problem for a multi-product, multi-period, and multi-echelon supply chain network that consists of several existing plants at fixed places, some warehouses and distribution centers at undetermined locations, and a number of given customer zones. Consequentially, chance constrained programming model for the problem is designed and some properties of the model are investigated. The objective is to minimize the system-wide total main transport costs, inventory and end distribution costs. A numerical example is also given to show the application of the method.
