Optimization of Extraction of Phenols From Leaves of Oak Tree by Response Surface Methodology
The extraction of polyphenols from leaves of oak tree was optimized to maximize phenol extraction, Y. A central composite design involving ethanol concentration (X1), extraction temperature (X2), extraction time (X3) and ratio of liquid to solid (X4) was used, and second-order model for Y was employed to generate response surfaces. The optimum conditions for phenol extraction (Y) were X1=52.17%; X2=58.13 ℃; X3=20 min; X4=31.64. Estimate of Y at the optimum was 92.9%. Experimental verification gave values of Y=93.65%.
