Study on the Evaluation of Universitys Competitiveness Based on Data Envelopment Analysis
In the intense competition for the scare resources, each university is keep raising its efficiency of recourses utilization to attract more scare recourses and to strengthen its competitiveness. To understand the meaning of competitiveness correctly and enhance universitys competitiveness we should carry on synthesis evaluation method to evaluate competitiveness, in the main comprehensive evaluation methods, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method is an evaluation method that evaluates the relative efficiency of several evaluation objects and it can be used to resolve the evaluation issue with several input indexes and several output indexes. From the perspective of effective resources utilization, this paper tries to apply DEA method to the evaluation of universitys competitiveness. This paper analyses empirically the validity of using DEA method to evaluate universitys competitiveness by evaluating the competitiveness of nine universities. Another contribution of this paper is that it applies Principle Component Analysis method to simplify the index system that is established according to the DEA method. By using Principle Component Analysis method to simplify the index system, we can get more scientific and rational evaluation result.
