Design of Variable Sampling Intervals Mean Control Charts
Using control charts to monitor a production process, usual practice is to take the samples at fixed time. Recent research shows that adaptive control charts are more efficient than the static charts. Based on the continuous probability distribution of the random process mean shifts, this paper designed variable sampling intervals(VSI) (x )control charts and calculated its statistical properties. The results of the comparison with the fixed sampling interval (FSI) (x )charts show that these charts are superior to the Shewhart control chart in view of overall performance.
