Effect of Modification at High Temperature on the Hydration Behaviors of Steel Slag
Steel slag can be divided as basic oxygen furnace steel slag and electric arc furnace steel slag (EAFSS). The former one, also called steel slag, constitutes the majority of steel slag in China. This paper is dedicated to study the effect of high temperature modification with the aid of added EAFSS on the hydration behaviors of steel slag. The results show that RO phase can be transformed to pleonaste during the modification process, and the autoclave soundness of the modified steel slag (MSS) can meet the GB/T750-92 requirement. The heat evolution behaviors of MSS is similar to that of a typical Portland cement paste; the hydration rate of MSS is higher than that of OSS either at early ages or at later ages. The hydration products of cement with 30 mass% ground MSS are nearly the same as those of Portland cement except pleonaste involved.
