Influence of Stray Current and Chloride Ion on the Compressive Strength of Reinforced Concrete
In the paper, the compressive strengths of reinforced concrete were investigated in the presence of stray current only or both stray current and chloride ion. Results indicated that combined effect of stray current and chloride ion on the mechanical property of reinforced concrete was more obvious than that when only stray current was applied, and that effect was enhanced with the increase of voltages, chloride ion concentration and corrosion time. A mathematical relationship was established between the loss in compressive strength and intensity of stray current, chloride ion concentration and time.
