Coaxial probe-fed Circularly Polarized Microstrip Antenna for BeiDou RDSS Applications
Circularly polarized(CP) square microstrip antenna used in Beidou RDSS is proposed and discussed in this paper. Four slits and two truncated corners were cut out from the patch. Via a coaxial probe feeding at an appropriate position, right-hand circularly polarization(RHCP) operation is achieved at 2.492GHz with a !0dB impedance bandwidth of about 40MHz and 3dB axial bandwidth of about 10MHz. The prototype has been simulated, manufactured, measured and found to have a dovetailed result to the emulation. With the four inserted slits, the patch size of the antenna has been decreased compared to the conventional corner-truncated square microstrip antenna without slits. The gain of the antenna is about 7.5dBi across the impedance bandwidth on average.
