Band-Notched UWB Planar Monopole Antenna Using a Novel Segmented Circular Patch
This paper presents a novel segmented circular planar monopole antenna for band-notched UWB applications. The proposed antenna is composed of a segmented circular metal patch, a truncated ground plane, and a tapered feeding line. The simulated results indicate that, by cutting apart an original circular patch into three segments with a pair of super thin slots, the proposed antenna yields an ultrawide bandwidth except the 5.1-6.1 GHz band occupied by WLAN. Furthermore, the center frequency and the bandwidth of the targeted rejection band are tunable. Therefore, a parametric study of the geometry and electric parameters of the proposed antenna is performed. The radiation properties of the proposed antenna are also investigated throughout the paper.
