Design of a Wideband Quasi-Yagi Microstrip Antenna with Bowtie Active Elements
This paper presents a novel wideband quasi-Yagi microstrip antenna with bowtie active elements. Good impedance matching and mode transforming are realized by using a microstrip line-to-slotline transition. In this design, a passive reflector and two passive rectangle directors are used to obtain End-fire radiation patterns. After FDTD and FEM simulations, a good agreement between them validates the accuracy and the reliability of the calculation of the antenna. The 10 dB return loss bandwidth of the proposed design is 70% operating from 4.4GHz to 9.6 GHz, and the gain of this proposed antenna is higher than 5dBi at most frequency band with broad radiation beam. With the advantages of compact size, light weight and easy fabricating, it is suitable for broadband wireless communications.
