Modeling of Power-Plane Segmentation with Cavity and Planar-Lumped Models
A new power/ground planes modeling approach combining cavity and planer-lumped models is proposed for the analysis of power-plane segmentation. In this method, a lumped network model is developed to represent the electric and magnetic Held coupling of the gap, where the parameters are evaluated with the help of a 2-D field solver, and the cavity model is used for the calculation of rectangular planes. These two models are connected by a series of virtual ports along the edges. The proposed method is shown to be much more efficient than full-wave simulators and its accuracy is demonstrated by two numerical examples.
