Investigation on Flow Field in Shaped Governing Valve of Steam Turbine

The fluid flow inside turbine governing valve is 3D unsteady turbulence. The interaction between the structure of the valve and the fluid flow may induce vibration of valve disc and valve rod, even more damage. In this article, 3D modeling of the shaped governing valve is established. In the valve calculation and experiment, variation regularity of the flow parameters is presented, then the flow field information inside the valve is obtained at various load conditions. From numerical simulation and experiment, the valve vibration is studied and the result shows that the vibration reduction capability of this kind of valve is good. Therefore the investigation is useful for valve design and manufacture.
