Open Hydroponics System in Citrus Cultivation:Principles and Commercial Results
The application of Open Hydroponics System (OHS) principles are being used in various commercial citrus orchards world wide. With this presentation the author wants to put various aspects into perspective such as the basic principles of this approach as well as results of commercial orchards under OHS management in different climatic and soil conditions. Data such as yield and fruit quality, general vegetative growth performance as well as the efficient use of fertilizer and irrigation water will be presented. Specific nutritional principles will be discussed with special reference to a new generation carbon based fertilizer formulation. The importance of the correct irrigation system design including ideal dripper spacing and application rates on different soil types will also be discussed.
