The Performance of Some Satsuma Clones in Adana Ecological Conditions

The objective of this study was to investigate the performance of satsuma clones under Adana ecological conditions and from the obtained results to determine the best clones for this region. Satsuma clones (Satsuma Sugiyama 23-5, Satsuma Sugiyama 23-6, Satsuma Silverhill 22-9, Satsuma A. 25, Satsuma A. 29, Satsuma A. 30, Satsuma A. 33, Satsuma Tuzcu I , Satsuma Tuzcu II , Satsuma Hayashi and Satsuma Ikeda) which had been grafted on sour orange were used and their fruit yield, fruit quality and morphological characters were determined trought three years. There was little difference between the clones, with the exception of Satsuma A. 30 that had the lowest mean yield. All other clones ranged from 202. 30 to 100. 11kg per tree. Satsuma Tuzcu I had the highest acids content and thus a low TSS; TA. According to the results, Satsuma A. 29, Satsuma Tuzcu II , Satsuma Silverhill 22-9, Satsuma Sugiyama 23-5 and Satsuma Sugiyama 23-6 which have high fruit yield and fruit quality were found as the best clones for this region.
