Acaricidal Activity of Boenninghausenia sessilicarpa against Panonychus citri
Boenninghausenia sessilicarpa as investigated for its acaricidal activity against Panonychus citri in the laboratory. Four solvents were tested for preparing crude extract: petroleum ether, chloroform, ethyl acecate and ethanol. Ethanol was the most effective solvent. Results suggest that extract of B. sessilicarpa from ethanol was provided with eminent acaricidal and ovicidal activities. Concentrated extracts were prepared using petroleum ether, chloroform, ethyl acecate or distilled water as a solvent. Mite mortalities from the concentrated extracts by petroleum ether, chloroform or distilled water were significantly lower than those by ethyl acecate. The LC50 values of egg, female mite were 0. 7639mg/ml, 1.1033mg/ml, respectively. After liquid chromatography and thin layer chromatography, the concentrated extracts were separated into 14 groups of isolated fraction and tested for acaricidal and ovicidal activities. Fractions 2 demonstrated to have possessed preferable acaricidal and ovicidal activities. The mortality of egg, adult mite stage were 85. 83% , 63. 07% , respectively. Moreover, Fractions 2 showed fine oviposit inhibition effect against Panonychus citri; the concentration is above 2.5 mg/ml and the oviposit inhibition rate was 0.879 5.
