How to Solve Conflicts-Hydropower and Ecology at the River Rhine

Ladies and Gentlemen, Please let me first thank the organizers for the invitation and for all the support I got during the preparation of this visit. Im glad and proud to introduce to you how we solve the conflicts between the use of hydropower and ecological demands at the River Rhine. I will begin with an overview of the geography of the river and its main characteristics.Only briefly, I will mention problems and solutions concerning water quality and mainly historical features. Problem number two, river continuity will be discussed in detail, and three ways to solutions will be presented. Finally, I will discuss two prerequisites for the achievement of all of the solutions—cooperation and participation.
