Global Water Partnership Supporting Countries in the Sustainable Management of Their Water Resources
Global Water Partnership is a world wide network of water experts from different sectors and levels of society, created some 12 years ago with a vision for a water secure world and a mission to support the sustainable development and management of water resources at all levels. In doing so the partnership provides a neutral platform for all water stakeholders to find common solutions of their water resources issues. In many countries of the world water resources constitute the most limiting factor to sustainable development. poverty reduction, human health, functioning of ecosystems and economic growth. The work of GWP is consequently linked to the global agendas of the Millennium Development Goals and the World Summit on Sustainable Development. The way forward to achieve the GWP mission is therefore to promote an Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) approach whereby water polices are shaped and the needed water investements are made.
