The Experimental Study on Seepage Characteristics of Heavy Oil in Porous Media
Heavy oil was regarded as a kind of non-Newton fuid. But at high temperature heavy oil changed from viscoplastic fluid to pseudoplastic fluid or Newton fluid. In this article, many experiments were carried out to measure the inflexion temperature and the threshold pressure-gradient of different type of heavy oil in porous media. The experimental results showed that flow characteristics of heavy oil were influenced not only heavy-oil properties but also pore-throat structure in porous media. The inflexion temperature and the threshold pressuregradient gradually increased as oil viscosity increased and permeability decreased in porous media. Moreover, the inflexion temperature increased exponentially as oil viscosity increased in the same porous media.
