Temperature/Stress Interaction for Thermal Recovery Wells

Casing damage is more and more serious especially in heavy oil reservoirs because of the thermally-generated strains and stresses in the casing and the surrounding formations. Considering the exploitation character of actual heavy oil reservoir, the casing thermo-mechanical interaction was studied in order to build up the analysis method of the casing stress and the casing intensity. In this way, the temperature/stress interaction for thermal recovery wells was depicted. The temperature site and the stress field of the casing-cement ring-formation’s 3D model were stimulated with ANSYS. The temperature distributions in the process of shutting in were studied. The thermal stress was also researched. Furthermore, temperature/stress interaction was studied for single wellbore. Based on those mentioned above, the theory of the casing intensity in the steam injection was built.
