On Analyzing Deformation and Propagation of Intermittent Fractures in the Discrete Blocks Under Seepage Forces
Based on traditional Discontinuous Deformation Analysis (DDA) method, a new discrete block model is developed, in which the common moving least-squares (MLS) approximants used in the meshfree method is employed here to approximately describe block displacement field, the aim of this is to investigate deformation and propagation of intermittent fractures in the large blocks, moreover in this model, the influence of seepage forces deriving from pressure and elevation heads are considered. The theoretical contents and numerical cases are provided to verify the proposed model.
