Study on the Contribution of Construction Technical Standards to Industry Economic Development
Contribution of technology to economic development is a more concerned issue. Technical standards play an important role in the diffusion of technology and in the evolution of economy of an industry. In this thesis, the contribution of technical standards to the industry’s economic development in construction was discussed employing a quantitative model of the standards’contribution to the economic growth. Based on the data of the total output value, added value, fixed assets, total number of industry practitioners, national standards and industry standards stock and fixed building patents of the construction industry between 1996-2007, calculated by the model, we found that China’s construction industry is still in the labor-intensive stage and the function of capital in construction industry is far from visible. At the same time, the dedication elasticity coefficient of standards and patents is higher than the contribution of capital elasticity;and this fully illustrates the standards-primacy characteristic of construction industry. Also, it can be seen that the contribution rate of standards to construction industry is 9.67% which is higher than the 7.88% average level of all industry standards’contribution to the economic development of the whole country.
