“Zero to Hero——the Contention About the EU Seal Ban Regulation

摘要：

The EU seal ban regulation (SBR) reflects that the EU seriously concerns about the issue of cruel seal hunt in Canada. The general prohibition on the importation and sale of seal products under the EU SBR is of an instrument for banning the cruel and inhumane seal hunt. However, Canadian complaint under the WTO dispute settlement mechanism has made no mention of the seal hunting methods. Either a full ban on the trade in seal products or request for utilizing more proper seal harvesting methods, is a hard nut to crack.
