Surface reconstruction of Pd modified perovskite: Remarkable effect of water on Pd redispersion

Introduction The removal of nitrogen oxide emissions generally involves noble metal-based catalysts on conventional supports which are easily deactivated by the agglomeration of metal particles in the operating conditions 1. Uenishi et al. 2 have investigated the redox behavior of palladium in the perovskite structure showing a self-regenerative function under dry atmosphere. However in the presence of additional water, significant modifications could be involved in the structure reconstruction process as well as Pd insertion in the perovskite. Our study is devoted to the thermal stability and surface reconstruction of Pd modified perovskite-type catalyst LaCo1-xPdxO3 in the presence of water at high temperature.
