One-step dehydration and transformation of bio-derived n-butanol to chemicals over zeolite catalysts
Introduction Recent research shows that n-butanol is a potential product from biomass on a large scale via fermentation.1 Therefore, bio-butanol could be a convenient feedstock for production of fuels and chemicals in the near future. In this paper, medium pore size H-form zeolites were selected to carry out n-butanol direct conversion. Dehydration and following transformation occur in one step. High yield of iso-butene or aromatics were obtained depending on the choice of catalyst and reaction conditions.
