Photocatalytic Reduction of CO2 to Hydrocarbon Fuels under Visible Light
Introduction Large-scale emission of atmospheric CO2 has now become a global environmental issue due to the greenhouse effect, CO2 concentration is the mean causing of global temperature increases. Therefore, the reduction of CO2 using some technologies represents a formidable task. Recently, the photocatalytic reduction of CO2 to organic compounds is one of the most important research areas, due to the reasons of the non-toxic chemical reaction and solving many urgent global environmental problems. Many investigations have been directed at exploring the preparations of low-cost and highly efficient photocatalysts for the reduction of CO2 under visible light. This contribution addresses the potential application of a novel photocatalyst AgBr/TiO2 to the reduction of CO2 gas under the visible light (λ > 420 nm), and investigating the feasibility and the optimal experimental conditions of AgBr/TiO2 with highly efficient performance for the photocatalytic reduction of CO2. In addition, we study the red-shifted properties of AgBr/TiO2 and the application of the photocatalytic reduction of CO2 under the outdoor solar light.
