Effect of Iron Promoter on Structure and Catalytic Activity of the Ni/γ-Al2O3 Catalyst for CO Methanation in Hydrogen-rich Gases
Introduction With the coming of low-carbon global economy age, hydrogen will play an important role mainly as a renewable and sustainable energy source, which can achieve a decrease in CO2 emissions. Hydrogen has been widely used as fuel for proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC)1. However, 1-2vol% CO contained in H2 must be reduced to below 100 ppm to avoid poisoning of the anode. CO methanation has been proved to be an effective strategy for the removal of CO. Among the catalysts, the investigation of Ni-based catalyst was the most active2,3. The research about effect of iron promoter on supported Ni-based catalyst was seldom4.
