Photocatalytic Degradation of Organic Dyes over BiVO4@Fibers Composite Materials

Introduction Of various visible-light responsive metal-oxide photocatalysts studied thus far, BiVO4 has drawn more and more attentions due to its excellent visible-light photocatalytic properties and high photo-to-current conversion efficiency. However, the practical application of powder BiVO4 suffers two problems: one of which is that the photocatalyst is easy to be drained away in waste water treatment. Another problem is that its visible-light photocatalytic reactivity and efficiency of BiVO4 should be further improved. Both problems might be solved by dispersing photocatalysts onto a support, e.g. SiO2, Al2O3, zeolites, carbon fibers, et al. In this article, the dispersing process and photocatalytic activity of BiVO4 loaded on fibers materials to form BiVO4@fibers photocatalyst, as well as the photocatalytic activity for methylene blue decomposition, are reported.
