Catalytic combustion of diesel fuel over complex metal oxides

Introduction: In the present study catalytic combustion of diesel has been studied over several different catalyst materials, i.e. two spinels and one hexaaluminate. The spinels are any of a class of minerals of general formulation A2+B2 3+O4 2- which in the crystal system. The hydrocarbon fuel used in the experiments is a mixture of 80 mol % n-heptane and 20 mol % to simulate the aliphatic and the aromatic parts of a diesel fuel. Moreover, the activities for pure n-heptane and toluene were also investigated and compared with those of the mixture. Three washcoat materials, LaMnAl crystallize cubic toluene 11O19, MgAl2O4, MgMn0.25Al1.75O4, were prepared using a co-precipitation technique. The LaMnAl11O19 and MgAl2O4 were impregnated with Pd and the latter also with Pt.
