Study of Fe/HBEA catalysts for selective catalytic reduction of NO

Introduction Diesel engines, which show the better fuel consumption and lower CO2 emission, have been encouraged to be developed. However, nitrogen oxides (NOx) from diesel engines are major air pollutants, which contribute to photochemical smog and acid rain. Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NO by NH3 is the most efficient technology for the removal of nitrogen oxides. Zeolite catalysts seem to be one of the most possible catalysts put into practical application 1. Recently, Fe/HBEA catalyst was reported for the SCR under diesel engines conditions, which showed good SCR performance and stability 2, 3. In this study, we mainly used ESR and Uv-vis methods to characterize the active sites of Fe/HBEA.
