Facile preparation of magnetic C/TiO2/Ni composites and their synergetic effects in UV light-induced photocatalysis

Introduction During the last few decades, considerable attention has been directed towards on the use of semiconductor compounds (as represented by TiO2) to photocatalytic oxidize organic contaminants and such method is considered to be one of the most promising industrial effluent water treatment processes. However, the quick recombination of charge carriers is one of the major problems for obtaining high photocatalytic efficiency. In this study, magnetic separable C/TiO2/Ni composite photocatalysts were prepared by a facile pyrolysis approach. The microstructure characterization results proved the high purity of as-prepared samples and reliability of this facile preparation method. Furthermore, the possible mechanism for the observed photocatalytic performance enhancement was discussed in detail.
