PHOTOCATALYTIC DEGRADATION OF HUMIC ACID BY NITROGEN-DOPED ZINC OXIDE
Introduction Humic acid, a natural organic material, is widely present in water as small particles. It can easily change into chloroform and other chemicals during disinfection, which are carcinogenic, teratogenic and mutagenic. Thus, it is very important to remove humic acid before the disinfection. Since the size of humic acid particles is usually around several hundred nanometers or less, it cannot be effectively removed by using conventional water treatment methods (such as coagulation, precipitation and filtration), neither by membrane treatment.
