Water-medium organic reactions over a novel mesoporous Cu/TiO2 catalyst

Introduction Organic reactions using water instead of organic solvents represent an important aspect of green chemistry. Metal catalysts deposited on ordered mesoporous supports with high surface areas may enhance the dispersion of active sites and facilitate the diffusion of reactant molecules. In this paper, we report a novel mesoporous Cu/TiO2 which exhibits higher activity than the Cu/P25 during water-medium Sonogashira reaction. Meanwhile, the catalyst shows strong durability owing to the excellent hydrothermal stability and the inhibition of the leaching of active sites.
