INVESTIGATION OF TiO2 NANOSHEETS WITH HIGH PERCENTAGE OF (001) FACETS AS SUPPORT IN SELECTIVE CATALYTIC REDUCTION OF NOx WITH NH3
Introduction Anatase TiO2 is thought to be one of the best carriers for selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalysts because it gives rise to catalysts that are stable against sulfation or even improved upon sulfation. Studies on surface science have demonstrated that the order of the average surface energies of anatase TiO2 is 0.90 J/m2 for 001 > 0.53 J/m2 for 100 > 0.44 J/m2 for 101. According to the Wulff construction, most available anatase TiO2 crystals are dominated by the thermodynamically stable 101 facets (more than 94 per cent). Recently, TiO2 nanosheets with high surface energies (001) facets have been successfully synthesized by hydrothermal method with the assistance of hydrofluoric acid solution and proved to have excellent photocatalytic efficiency. In the present work, TiO2 nanosheets with high percentage of (001) were used as catalyst support in the SCR, in which support influence on the catalytic activity was comparatively investigated with TiO2 (101).
