Technology transfer of MNCs and China productivity effects:conceptual and empirical analysis

We develop a taxonomy that relates foreign direct investment (FDI) technology transfer and .control strategy in multinational eoperations (MNCs) to its anticipated effects on China domestic productivity.We then empirically examine the effects of FDI technology transfer into China on China domestic productivity,and find that in overall inward FDI have markedly productivity spillover effects,whieh is consistent with the conceptual analysis.Though China gains substantially from inward FDI productivity spiUovers,more domestic innovations are still needed.
