The Critical Value between Parallel and Serial Searches on Quantitative Dimension

Introduction: Visual searchisa importantly experimental paradigm on the Feature-Integration Theory of Attention. It includes feature and conjunction searches. Feature search by quantitative dimensions plays an important role in all kinds of feature searches. Some searchers found that its slopes (reaction time × set size) were determined by the quantitative difference between the target and distractors. But the result doesnt accord with Webers law. Ma, Shui, and Shen (2002) found that slopes were decided by the ratio (C, size ratio) of difference between a target (T) and distractors (D) to distractors. For the sake of further quantifying the rule of feature search by quantitative dimension, this paper mainly inquired the critical value between parallel and serial searches.
