Market-competitive Behavior and Performance Between Direct Saler and Distribution-Supply Chain
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the market-competitive behavior and performance between direct saler and distribution-supply chain. Both of them produce and sell different products with substitution, and carry on a Bertrand price competition in the same market. The supplier in the distribution-supply chain is the leader,so he sets the wholesale prices firstly. We develop a framework to analyze three different types of supply chain competitive strategies, and examine the impact of product differentiation and potential market scale on the direct saler and the traditional supply chain. We also consider the concept of the timing choice about market entrance.Furthermore, obtaining the equilibrium of the different competitive strategies,we identify the condition of supply chain competition to choose and game characteristics of each strategy.Several additional insights are abstained through numerical experiments.
