CHINESE TRANSNATIONAL ENTREPRENEURS IN CANADA: AN EXPLORATORY STUDY
The study examines transnational entrepreneurs’ (TEs) demographic characteristics and motivations in the context of Canada’s Chinese community in 2009. The survey data, which is analyzed with the CHAID Tree, an innovative analytical technique, portray a typical TE as a 45-year or older man who is married with one child, has completed Masters or higher education programs, and does not have a full time job. This characterization stands in contrast to what we know about other segments of the ethnic economy and offers policy implications for both Canada and China.
