Characterizing Protocol Interaction Using Metamodeling Methodology
The metamodeling methodology is an important method to reduce the computational expense of complex system simulation. To demonstrate that the methodology can be applied to the domain of mobile ad hoc networks cross-layer design, three metamodeling techniques, including polynomial model, radial basis function and Kriging with their corresponding model fitting methods, were investigated in this paper, and their performances were evaluated on additional test data. The results show that Kriging metamodel achieves more accuracy and has a good robustness with acceptable computational efficiency. The examples show that design space can be explored with a reasonable accurate metamodel.
