Analysis on Resonant Frequency of Thick-Screen Frequency Selective Surface

This paper designed a thick-screen frequency selective surface (FSS) having circle hole elements. Based on the moment method and using simulated computation, it is mainly investigated that the resonant frequency of thick-screen FSS with non-dielectric (circular hole element filling no dielectric) vs. with dielectric (circular hole element filling dielectric) as changing metallic screen thickness and incidence angle. The results are shown that thick-screen FSS with dielectric possesses steeper cutoff frequency and less transmission loss than non-dielectric case, whatever for increasing metallic thickness or increasing incidence angle. Specially, in dielectric case, center frequency moves gradually towards low-frequency as increasing conducting metallic plate thickness and bandwidth becomes narrow whatever the electro-magnetic wave is normal incidence or oblique incidence.
