The Preparation of the Silver/zinc Antimicrobial and the Comparative Study on the Antibacterial Ability of Their Polypropylene Blend Fibers
Silver-zeolite-based antimicrobial agent and Nanozinc oxide antimicrobial agents are synthesized by ion exchange technique and Surface organic methods. Then we studied the surface morphology and the antibacterial ability of the two antimicrobials. The two antimicrobials and polypropylene are blended to get the blend fiber. We then studied the thermal properties, mechanical properties, the apparent shape and antibacterial ability of the blend fiber. It turns out that both antimicrobial agents have pretty good antibacterial ability. By adding the antimicrobial agents, the crystallinity of the polypropylene fiber is increased, while the tensile strength of the fiber is decreased. The antimicrobial fiber has a clear antibacterial effect. The antibacterial effect of the silver antibacterial fiber is better than the zinc antibacterial fiber, but the strength and hue of the zinc antibacterial fiber is better.
