Effect of Dimethylolpropionic Acid on Synthesis and Preparation of Polyurethane Film
Polyurethane films have been widely used in medical tapes or laminated waterproof fabrics, among which the transparence of film is valuable for its application in medical field. Isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI) is commonly used to prepare high transparent polyurethane film, due to its irregular structure. But when a little amount of dimethylolpropionic acid (DMPA) was incorporated into polyurethane (PU) backbones made from toluene diisocyanate (TDI) and polyether polyols, the polyurethane film exhibits high transparent properties. The properties of polyurethane film was characterized by Attenuated Total Reflectance-Fourier Transform infrared Reflectance (ATR-FTIR), Scanning Electron Micrograph (SEM), and water contact angle (WCA), and the processing variables such as NCO/OH ratio, reaction time, and reaction temperature were evaluated.
