Preparation of Bacterial Cellulose Powder and Process Optimization
A technology for preparation of bacterial cellulose powder was introduced in the research. The bacterial cellulose membranes obtained from static cultures were treated with 1% NaOH solution and homogenized. The homogenate was sprayed into dry powder by a spray dryer after a multiple of dilution. On the base of single factor screening, including solution dilution, import and export temperature, pump rate and air flow, the orthogonal experiment was adopted to get the optimum spray-drying technical parameters. The result indicated that the bacterial cellulose powder yield could reach 76.8% with export temperature at 140℃, solution dilution ratio of 1 ∶ 4, air flow rate of 80% and pump feeding speed of 20 rpm. The SEM images of bacterial cellulose powder indicated that bacterial cellulose gathered into a chunk after spray dried.
