Modified Nylon-membrane with Biomass as Biopolymer Sorbents for Removal of Ni( Ⅱ ) and Mg( Ⅱ )

Biosorption is an emerging and attractive technology which involves sorption of dissolved substances by a biomaterial. It is a potential technique for the removal of heavy metals from industrial waste water. In this study, We modified the surface of nylon-membrane with biomass (Aspergullus oryzae) as biopolymer a sorbent, and the biomass-membrane biosorption characteristics of Ni( Ⅱ ) and Mg( Ⅱ ) ions from aqueous solution were also studied. Optimum biosorption conditions were determined as a function of pH, contact time, and temperature. Langmuir, Freundlich models were applied to describe the biosorption isotherm of the metal ions. The results showed Aspergullus oryzae-membrane biomass was much better biopolymer sorbent for the removal of the both heavy metals from aqueous solution.
