The Research of Alkali Treatment and Dyeability of PTT/PA6 Conjugate Fiber

PTT/PA6 conjugate microfiber was treated with NaOH solution. The effect of alkali processing on alkalidecrement of the fiber was investigated. The morphology, dyeability and mechanical property of the fiber were surveyed before and after alkali treatment. The result showed that: Among the factors that have effect on the alkali-decrement, the major factor is treating temperature and the secondary factors are the treating time and the consistence of NaOH solution. The alkali decrement increased greatly and maximum value had achieved 26.5% when surfactant was added. The breaking strength of the conjugated fiber decreased after alkali treatment, and was less than 50% compared with the initial fiber while alkali decrement is rather high. The dyeability of the conjugate fiber was improved after alkali treatment and the dye-uptake was up to 90%. The detaching effect appeared after alkali treatment, and was clearer while the treating temperature was 115℃, the consistence of NaOH solution was 12 g/L and the treating time was 60 minutes.
