Forming and Structural Analysis of Prototype Hat-like Textile for Branch Endovascular Prosthesis

Based on the functional requirement of vital branches of endovascular prosthesis, the hat-like textile structure with density gradient was designed to replace part of aortic stent grafts to perform automotive extrusion and enhance the capacity of anti-endoleak. During the surgical operation, the central area of the endovascular prosthesis is made to open to the artery branch and then the graft is released in order to extrude the central area into the artery branch and form an opening on top of the central area under the aortic blood pressure to keep blood supply of the artery. Polyester multifilaments (50D/36f) were selected as the raw material. Through weaving, compacting and molding, the prototype hat-like textile branch endovascular prosthesis was formed. The structural parameters including warp and weft count, thickness, weight per square meter and porosity, of different parts of prototype, have been tested. The results shown that density gradient from fringe area to transitional area to central area of prototype was formed. It has a potential application for textile branch with density gradient of endovascular prosthesis. The further work will be taken in the evaluation of the mechanical and biological properties of the prototype.
